Fuel injector pump in gasoline engines.?
I've been researching the inner workings of the modern combustion engines and I can't figure out what pressurizes the fuel for the fuel injectors. I thought it was the injection pump but I read that those are only used in diesel engines. I take it there is still some type of pump in a combustion engine, but what is it's official name? I know there is a fuel pump that moves the gas from the tank to the fuel filter and then onwards, but since this pump is in the rear of the car, there has to be a smaller, high-pressurized pump closer to the injection site. Any insight would be much appreciated, Thank you!
